Volunteer Activites for Family Volunteer Day 2009

 

 

Volunteer Program:  Juggling Life
Volunteer Activity:  Younger children and families will be introduced to juggling and other circus acts and see how our organization utilizes youth volunteers to entertain ill or disadvantaged children through their work.  Children and families ages 9 and up will be able to participate in workshops to begin learning how to juggle and perform as a way of volunteering their time to entertain others.

 

Volunteer Program: Care Pack
Volunteer Activity:  Families of all ages will work together to sort inventory as well as create 150 Care Packs that will be gifted to local children when they first enter the foster care system.

 

Volunteer Program:  Children for Charity
Volunteer Activity:  Youth ages 5 and under will participate in creating bookmarks for our Care Pack program which is a regular activity of our Children for Charity program.  Completed bookmarks are placed inside books that are then put in our Care Packs.  Youth ages 6 – 8 years will have a choice of creating upcycled journals or creating bookmarks.  Youth ages 9 and up will have a choice of creating upcycled jewelry, journals and bookmarks.

 

Volunteer Program:  Cultural Education 4 Kids
Volunteer Activity: Youth ages 8 and under will get a chance to listen to a reading of Mud Soup, discuss the book and color a placemat that will be gifted to a soup kitchen for use during the upcoming holiday.  Youth ages 9 – 11 years will listen to a reading of Sitti’s Secrets and write a letter to President Obama.  Children 12 and up will lead the reading of Sitti's Secrets and pair with a younger volunteer to help write a letter to President Obama.
