Care Pack provides children entering foster care with a duffel bag filled with brand new items during this critical time.
Most children entering the foster care system are taken from their homes on an emergency basis and cannot bring any items with them because of this. Our Care Pack program gives DYFS the ability to give these children some items that they both need and want. As of January 2010 we have distributed more than 1,400 Care Packs to children in foster care and thanks to our current participation in the Disney Give a Day. Get a Day program we are receiving thousands of dollars worth of items and would like to get these to Division of Youth & Family Services offices ASAP. If you're a family volunteer looking for a great way to volunteer, pay attention to our upcoming volunteer listings as we will be posting many Care Pack assembly and inventory sorting opportunities shortly. A huge thank you to all the volunteers who came out for our 3rd annual Family Volunteer Day on November 2009 to help us assemble 100 Care Packs for the children in foster care of Monmouth County. Want to get Involved?
This program can use the help of schools, clubs, families, businesses, corporations, individuals, and organizations. - Host an item drive with your family, school, business or organization
- Volunteer to create Care Packs at one of our Care Pack creation events
- Work with us to custom create Care Packs for children in foster care in your community
- Collect Penny's for Packs, a term created and first implemented by a group of our best young volunteers which entails setting up collection cans at your business, school or home and dropping in spare change until your goal has been reached. You can then donate the money to our organization and we will purchase items or go shopping for items off of our wish list and donate the items to us.
- Join us at our annual Family Volunteer Day held on the Saturday before Thanksgiving each year.
